Only Fools & Horses PrequelTrotters Set to Hit Screens Again in Only Fools & Horses PrequelOne of Britain's biggest comedies is to return in 2010, as Del Trotter and co are back in spin off show Sex, Drugs and Rock 'n' Chips
It’s been six long years since we last saw the Trotter family on our screens as Del and Rodney received their inheritance from Uncle Albert which allowed them to remain at their Nelson Mandela House home, but creator John Sullivan is to bring them back to our screens in a 1960's based spin-off show. Sex Drugs and Rock 'n' Chips The show will focus around a young Del and his parents Joan and Reg (Reg was seen once during the original series but Joan had already died some years previous) prior to them moving into Nelson Mandela House in 1960's Peckham. Del will be accompanied by his schoolboy chums Boycie, Denzil and the lovable Trigger as well as Jumbo Mills (who we know once ran a fish stall with a young Del) but Rodney is not yet born. Nicholas Lyndhurst does return however as the safe cracking villain Freddie Robdal (Freddie the Frog) who in the very last episode we learned was actually Rodney’s biological father. The plot will see Robdal, fresh out of prison, win the heart of Joan who is fed up of the work-shy Reg and looks for comfort from the smooth and sophisticated Robdal. James Buckley and Nicholas LyndhurstThe part of the wheeling and dealing Trotter-teen will be played by Inbetweeners star James Buckley. Buckley spoke of his trepidation at playing the role made famous by David Jason, posting on his Twitter page ‘There's no point even worrying how I'll compare to David Jason. Why did he have to be so amazing?’ As mentioned above, Lyndhurst (who played Rodney for the whole original series) returns as Freddie Robdal whilst the character of Joan will be played by actress Kellie Bright who has starred in such programs as Horne and Corden and New Tricks The full cast is as follows:
John SullivanThe writer and creator of Only Fools & Horses and the upcoming prequel said about the show: "Sex, Drugs & Rock 'n' Chips will be set in the real Sixties, before The Beatles and Mary Quant made London the coolest place on the planet. The drama will feature South London at its least glamorous, where money was scarce, the staple diet was rock salmon and chips, and the flicks offer the only hint of glamour. And it will give us a bit of an insight into why Del and Rodney turned out they way they did." Filming for the show has almost ended and it is set to hit screens in 2010.
